I would have to say yes – to save you wading through the rest of this article to find the answer.
I found one site (no, I won’t say which) that gave a long table of sites it claims are free for doing reverse cell phone lookups. Here’s a screenshot of the first 5 sites it lists:

And here are some screenshots from those sites, showing how much they really cost:
These are in the order listed above. Please note, these sites themselves DO NOT claim to be free – it was the referring website that offered a no cost facility.
Site 1 – not much help there, then!

Site 2 – just a general search engine. If you could find the number that way, you wouldn’t be wanting to find a cell phone lookup service in the first place!

Site 3 – Getting warmer – they claim to have a record of the number, but you have to pay.
Site 4 – doesn’t sound hopeful

Site 5 – that’s just for one search! It’s not a lookup website at all – they run the search for you.
The best value way of running reverse cell phone number searches is to sign up to a service such as Phone Detective. For a fee of $39.95 you get unlimited cell phone number lookups for a whole year.
And if you don’t believe me, just do an internet search for yourself.
